British Car Day 2017 – Part 2

Well, just like last year I have run into the old too many photos in a post issue, so here is Part 2. Part 1 is HERE.

There were a couple of these interesting looking “lowlight” Morris Minors. Havent seen these before, they were quite cool.

I don’t know what this was, but it was cool. Bare metal body, which looked like it was hand formed.

This old Austin was in lovely condition, but the biggest surprise was when the owner fired the engine up. It ran like clockwork. Smooth, quiet and nothing like what I expected.

This little “Bradford by Jowett” was nice. Great condition, and powered by a little two-cylinder horizontal engine.

There were two of these Lotus Excels in attendance. Both were in great shape, and seeing them cruising across the field, they just looked so futuristic. Oh, and don’t those tail lights look familiar? 😁

This Rolls was funny. Most cars with headlight wipers have a normal rubber blade to wipe away dirt and water. Rolls? Nope, It has a brush. Dont want that peasant dirt on my headlights!

They are such big, elegant cars

I almost missed this very tidy little MK2 Escort. It was tucked away, behind a bunch of other cars.

There were heaps of motorbikes again this year, but since I don’t know anything about them, here’s some photos.

This car was for sale. $10,000. A very good-looking engine under the hood. This one was very low. A great look, but not so practical.

I knew I would get there at some point. The Landrover Club. This old radio truck was playing audio through the radio. It sounded so typically old school that I thought it was a recording, until I heard the “news” talking about Trump. Nope, it was standard FM (maybe AM) radio playing the hourly news.

This Vanden Plas EFI was a surprise. The owners had pulled it out of a barn where it had sat for about 10 years. The previous owner had grenaded the engine doing what I said not to in my post about changing the oil, he had drained the oil pump by dropping the oil from the sump and removing the filter. He tried to fix it by packing the pump full of vaseline, but had cocked it up and smashed the timing hardware to bits. Considering it was out of a barn, it was in pretty good shape. Some rust, as expected, but otherwise a good base.
